Sarah Scheidel, Ed.D. , Undergraduate Academic Advisor in the Psychological Sciences

Sarah joined the UConn team in January 2014, coming from Springfield Technical Community College. There she worked as an Academic Counselor for TRiO Student Support Services for 3 years. Sarah has held positions in admissions, residence life, career services, and academic advising throughout her time in the field of higher education.
Sarah received her B.A. in Psychology at Bay Path College and then moved to Boston, Massachusetts to get her M.S. in Applied Educational Psychology with a concentration in College Student Development Counseling from Northeastern University. She recently completed her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at the University of Hartford.
NACADA Involvement & Experience
Sarah has been a member of NACADA for almost six years. She is currently the Connecticut State Liaison for NACADA Region 1. In this role, she has helped organize two drive-in conferences and some networking events. She has also presented at various NACADA conferences on diverse topics including: “What was I thinking?!? The life of a doctoral student;” “Collaborating to Support Students with Mental Illness;” “It Takes a Village: Collaborating to Advise Student Athletes;” and “Young Professionals at Community Colleges.”
Other Relevant and Interesting Information
Sarah was born and raised in Connecticut and has lived here most of her life. When Sarah is not presenting at NACADA conferences or when she is not working with UConn students, she enjoys cooking, spending time with her partner and friends, and catching up on her favorite TV shows. Sarah is also very competitive, which is on display in her many fantasy football leagues or when she is competing in chili cook-offs.
